Program Overview:
Roughrider Academy is a non-disciplinary academic school providing a flexed self-paced curriculum for students in secondary education. Accelerated education involves learning to be more effective in the way one works rather than simply working at a faster pace. The computer will be used to diagnose, teach, and test for mastery of learning. Roughrider Academy Teachers facilitate the program and provide direct instruction to enhance learning. Furthermore, the Roughrider Academy design is for students who have not successfully earned credits in the traditional classroom setting.
Entry Criteria:
Roughrider Academy is a school offering an alternative to traditional school for students who are at-risk of dropping out from Center High School. Students applying for admission must meet at least one of the at-risk criteria identified by the state and/or be recommended by principal or counselor.Potential students and their parents are required to attend an interview with the Campus Administrator.Special education students are accepted only at the recommendation of the ARD Committee. 504 students will be admitted to the Roughrider Academy on the recommendation of the 504 committees. All Students are expected to follow the district’s Student Code of Conduct. Roughrider Academy does not accept transfer students from other districts.
Enrollment Procedures:
1. Fill out and return completed application (Available ONLINE or in the CHS & Roughrider Academy Offices).
2. Schedule an interview with Campus Administrator.
3. Complete interview and parent conference.
4. Sign and return required documents.
5. COME TO SCHOOL AND BE SUCCESSFUL!!!
