Mrs. Linda Snell

Welcome to the Center Intermediate Website and the Center Intermediate family. Center Intermediate School values community and parental support, input, and collaboration. Our philosophy and campus culture are based on the following beliefs: Safety; Respect; Responsibility; Team; Service; and Morality. Center Intermediate is dedicated to providing a learning environment where students are challenged to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and physically in order to be responsible citizens and contributing members of a changing and global society. Our vision for Center Intermediate is for all students to excel. We have a terrific team at Center Intermediate School and I am looking forward to a great year. As an administrator, I am grateful to be at Center Intermediate School to work with exemplary educators who desire continuous improvement and excellence for all students. One of my favorite quotes: "Where there is no vision, the people perish," is a great reminder that we must all remember our vision and commitment to excellence.

CIS PROGRAMS AND LABS

The Gifted/Talented program's mission is to provide an environment where gifted students can collaboratively and individually develop their critical and creative thinking skills to their full potential. Our goal is to have students use those skills to make valuable contributions to society. The Center Intermediate G/T program is academic in nature and serves the four core areas of Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. Instruction at Center Intermediate is achieved through a pull-out program daily..

There are two Reading Labs on campus to help our students with their reading; we use Focus on Reading in the first lab which is a web based program that teaches comprehension, fluency, literary appreciation, phonics, reading strategies, and vocabulary/concept development.

In the second Reading Lab small group literacy instruction is provided for specific reading skills. Cross-curricular literature is also used to increase reading skills and knowledge in all four core subject areas. Vocabulary development is emphasized in each lesson.

Our Math Lab is a hands on class designed to help small groups of 4th and 5th grade students at a time. Students are chosen to participate in this class if their core math teacher identifies a need to improve their conceptual understanding and performance.

The Science Lab is a fully equipped lab setting in which to conduct experiments, demonstrations and investigations. Each class is scheduled to participate in these various activities on a weekly basis.

Our Computer Lab has 25 computers. Students attend the lab each week where they can work on the student skills in a different environment. There are many programs for the students to practice Reading, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Typing. Please read more about the computer Lab at: COMPUTER LAB

Our students do Accelerated Reader to improve their reading skills. Our Library has over 7000 Titles in it to choose from. We encourage our students to read by offering prize's at the end of the year for the most Accelerated Reader Points.

We also use an Accelerated Math program in our class rooms. This program sharpens the student's math skills. Both Accelerated Reader and Math are self paced and let the students work on their on with out pressure.
